However, in this case it's not even about making items easier to obtain, it's about getting the same chance of obtaining the weapons. Removing that illusion and saying "yeah it used to be rare, now it is commonplace" is a big middle finger for those people. On the other hand, some people play exactly because some items are rare and therefore special. ![]() Especially since they might be able to get some missing artifact weapons themselves they missed back in the day. Those people don't take WoW that seriously and are more open to the idea of making the stuff available to everyone. Some players would say that today, with stressful jobs, challenges approaching like climate change, inflation etc, there really are more important things than just exclusive items in a video game. It all boils down to this: Do you care about prestige in a video game? I don't care if there are issues with balancing or obsolete content or whatever - that's on the devs, not the players. I think outside of Blizzard, only Bungie does this with Destiny 2. Especially if it's still the same game and not a port or remake. Unless it is part of another IP as part of a cross-promotional event, there really shouldn't be a reason to make anything unobtainable or even remove from the game files. Yes, it seems asinine to remove content from any video game.
